Editor's note:
Because such a protean work cannot possibly address every contingency, and because any plan of action should be open to continual alteration and refinement as circumstances change and new information becomes available, this proposal is and will always be a work in progress.
For now it is a portfolio of 11 major policy proposals in outline form, backed up by hundreds of pages of detailed factual information and analysis, organized by topic into "parts", chapters and sub-chapters.
As you scan the various topics and subtopics, you will notice that the background material behind several of the policy "planks" is missing altogether, while in other cases it is as yet incomplete. Lance will continue to fill in the gaps as his time allows and is currently projecting substantial completion of the detailed "background" material by the end of February 2009.
While the Renewable Deal policy package itself is Lance's unique creation and will not be a collaborative "wiki" document that others can edit freely and directly, we invite members of this website to help build out the conceptual platform by supplying quality information, links to useful and pertinent web resources, articles on subjects about which they have special expertise, opinion, analysis and commentary in the various blogs associated with the Renewable Deal, commentary and opinion, constructive criticism, correction to obvious errors of fact or interpretation, and any other forms of input which will contribute to a better overall product.
Portions of the Earth Restoration "universe" will eventually provide wiki-style collaborative design tools for use by trusted website members. In the meantime we welcome commentary and opinion in the blogs at various levels of the website's content hierarchy.
If you'd like to submit content for possible inclusion in the body of the work, send Renewable Deal progenitor Lance Christie an email with a summary or copy of the article or outline of the idea, at the following email address:
atl@frontiernet.net
Any such input will be evaluated and incorporated at the sole discretion of Lance Christie, as he deems fit. We are grateful for all input, with the caveat that we have a high standard of excellence and will be judicious in selecting what to publish on this website. We naturally wish to avoid redundancy and we have an ideal of clear concise writing, well-organized presentation, and maximum source transparency (not just footnotes, but footnotes which lead as directly as possible to the original source.) Quality is much more important than quantity.....
While Lance's contribution must retain its authorial integrity and coherency, we are acutely conscious that Earth Restoration must be a collaborative venture to which thousands or perhaps millions of individuals will contribute over decades and--Lord willing--centuries. In that spirit we offer all content on this website as a starting point and open platform for discussion, debate, and further elaboration by the entire Earth restoration community.
