The currency of social and environmental change is ideas, and this blog is an idea-submission box for our project as a whole. But ideas require action for their completion. With that in mind I would offer the folloing initial recommendation for suggestion-makers. The "Active Voice" principle. Every writer learns early that the "active voice" is more clear and compelling than the "passive voice". The "active" voice uses "active" instead of "passive "verbs designed to tell the reader who or what is doing an action. "Joe built the house," uses the active voice. Then the house was built," uses the passive voice. Ideally, every suggestion submitted to this forum should be delivered in the active voice. By that I mean that responsibility for the fulfillment of the suggestion or idea should be clearly identified. Thought requires action for its completion, ideas unacompanied by any practical plan for their fulfillment, are incomplete. A complete, idea, by contrast, is one that comes prepackaged with a fully identified mechanism for its own fulfillment. The more complete the fulfillment mechanism, the more complete the idea. If you think, for example, that we should maintain an online, open-source database of restoration projects around the planet, within which any project manager can identify such a project and provide essential information about it--what means or mechanism would you propose by which this suggestion could be fulfilled? If the Earth Restoration Network is to be anything more than fantasy world, it's up to each and every one of our members to translate thought into action through his or her own personal initiative. Don't just tell us what we should be doing. Tell us what you can, and will do, on your own initiative. If you need resources that you don't at the moment have, this is a great place to identify such a need and once we have built up a membership of thousands or hundreds of thousands, it may well become an excellent place to find help.

Hi Ray - As a chemecologist, i like to understand the chemistry of natural resource ecology. I am wondering about the sudden syndrome of animal deaths this week and what the implications are. Perhaps we can schedula a meeting of the minds in a chat room at a given time and compare notes as to what we think might be going on. Personally, i think it likely has natural causes related to vibrational frequencies from a chemical release. First guess is some sort of neurotoxin has been released that doesn't allow the heart to pump. It must travel in air and water though - perhaps a venting and off-gassing due to a tectonic shift. Likely Occam's Razor applies and there is a simple explanation. I'd like to hear some other theories.
